ASI – AIDS Society of India (ASI) – was established in 2000, after an intense lobbying by the former IAS presidents Dr. Stefano Vella and Late Dr. Mark Wainberg with prominent Indian HIV experts. Today ASI is India’s largest association of HIV professionals with 650 members and with its bylaws in tandem with that of IAS. ASI organizes national conferences since 2005 on annual basis, the last one being 16th National Conference of ASI – ASICON 2025 held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. ASI organizes CMEs and specialized workshops in different parts and is a familiar name in Indian medics.
ASI co-sponsors several other conferences in the disciplines of Microbiology, Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics etc. by organizing dedicated sessions on HIV in each of them in several cities.
